The bravery of Inês Negra earned her the admiration of the people of Melgaço, having a statue in the village, next to the castle wall.
The evocative and figurative bronze statue on a granite pedestal, made by the sculptor José Rodrigues, was inaugurated on June 10, 1995, and is a landmark in the locality.
In the area of toponymy, the name of the heroine was attributed to the main avenue in the historic center of the village of Melgaço, close to one of the main walls of the castle, where the battle would have taken place.
