Branda da Aveleira

The Branda da Aveleira is located at the entrance of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, in Gave, Melgaço, and represents the way of life and traditions of an era, being one of the many brandas existing in the highest areas of the region.

Used since the 12th century, in spring and summer, as a grazing brandy, it was semi-abandoned in the 60s and 70s of the last century. Meanwhile, the inhabitants were returning to requalify the housing for rural tourism, restoring life to the village.

The landscape and the architectural complex are of enormous beauty and uniqueness, giving the village a bucolic and idyllic air.
