The Castro de Melgaço is a small proto-historical fortified village, with an elliptical plan wall, with traces of occupation from Roman times.
It stands out prominently at the top of a small hill overlooking the valley of the river Minho, which surrounds it. Rural, isolated, hill covered with pine forests and brooms next to Ribeiro da Folia. It is classified as a National Monument.
The defense of the village is reinforced by a ditch dug in the outcrop. It consists of fragments from the Iron and Roman Ages, and a fragment of an anthropomorphic statue.
