St. John’s Fountain

This baroque building dates from the 18th century. Of elaborate construction, it can be seen in Praça da República, in the center of Vila de Melgaço.

The fountain bears seven inscriptions and has a central niche. In an 18th century style, the monument also has a gabled back, defined by “toscanas” pilasters.

The Fonte is integrated into a landscaped space with benches where you can relax while enjoying an incredible view over the village and the historic center of Melgaço.
