The Convent Church of Paderne, also known as the Divine Savior, Church belonged to the old Convent of Paderne.
The convent originally belonged to a female order that, in 1225, was replaced by the Order of Canons Regular of Saint Augustine. It was this Order, in fact, that forty years later built the Romanesque church. Of this former convent, only three sides of the cloister remain which, despite being in ruins, deserves a visit for its superb architectural details.
The Church has an interesting Romanesque portal and inside, the seventeenth-century tiles on one of the walls, the gilded altarpiece in the chancel, and various polychrome wood images stand out. Of the primitive church, dating from the twelfth century, only a fragment of a frieze and an interesting capital remains where the Descent of Christ to Limbo is represented.
