For the sixth consecutive year, Melgaço has received national recognition as the “Sports Friendly Municipality,” an accolade presented by Cidade Social and APOGESD (Portuguese Sports Management Association).

The Sport Friendly Municipality Programme serves as a network connecting Portuguese municipalities, facilitating the exchange of good practices, benchmarking, and training. It focuses on the intervention model of municipalities in the realms of physical activity practices and sports development, along with the outcomes achieved by municipalities across Portugal.

This award publicly acknowledges the excellence in practices implemented by the municipality of Melgaço to promote sports and physical activity.
